So, how crazy am I about Korea?

A lot of my friends are Korean wannabes to be honest. They're addicted to everything Korean, and sometimes, I don't get it. (Shout out to Tin, Grace, Misi, Tiff, and Chuchi! ;D)

I've mentioned in my first post that one of the reasons I wanted to visit South Korea is because I wanted to see firsthand what the craze is all about. I know you might want to ask me, so just how crazy am I about SoKor now that I've experienced it myself?

Here's a short video I've shot to answer that question (teehee):

Teddy Bear Museum, Namsan Tower, Seoul, South Korea

What I recommend to see and visit:
  • N Seoul Tower for the hopeless romantics
  • Bukchon Village for the art lovers
  • The Palaces and the War Museum for the history lovers
  • AIINS World for the jet-setters
  • Bupyeong, Myeongdong, and Insadong for the shopaholics (Why do I feel like any place which name ends with "-ong" is good for shopping?)
  • Nanta Cookin' Show for those who love a good laugh
Thessa in SoKor :)
I'll return for:
  • Everland (I'm a kid at heart)
  • Lotte World (Seriously, I'm a kid at heart)
  • The DMZ Tour (Not for kids to try!)
  • Busan
  • Jeju and Nami Islands
  • more shopping
  • natural hot springs
If my posts enticed you to visit SoKor in the future, I found their tourism website informative and helpful: Visit Korea

Typhoon Haiyan: Ways to donate if you live in Canada

#prayforthePhilippines Philippines needs help. I just left the Philippines to move back to Canada when the storm hit the country -- being away, this is the least I can do. As you all know, Super Typhoon Haiyan (locally known as Yolanda) made headlines around the world not just because it is one of the most powerful typhoons ever recorded in history, but also because it had caused great devastation to many towns in the Philippines, and killed thousands and thousands of Filipinos. Even though the storm had left the Philippine Area of Responsibility, many are still in danger of getting sick or dying because many are without home, food, clothes and even clean water right now. Video from CNN It is known that Canadians are among the most generous of people in the world. Let us show, once again, how compassionate we all are by donating to the typhoon victims.  I have compiled links to different NGO sites where you can forward your monetary donations. Please feel ...

Lessons we twentysomethings could learn from Mandela

Source: NelsonMandela.org A few months back, I saw Nelson Mandela (also known as Madiba or Tata) on the cover of Reader's Digest and immediately bought a copy. I've always been like that. I love reading and watching news and documentaries about the world's greatest leaders. I do it because of course, one, there's the fascination. [The] fascination with their illustrious lives; their successes and the many failures and challenges they faced. I look up to them because they show me the kind of leader I want to be like. Second, there's the learning. Despite being different from many of us, one fact remains the same -- they are also humans who have strengths and weaknesses, just like us, and we can learn from their experiences.  Going back to Mandela, I felt sad upon reading at that time that he was ailing, so just imagine how sad I got when I heard the news about his passing. I know a lot felt the same. I was sad not only because he is Mandela, ...

Happiness in a cup

photo by Thessa Sandoval I'm a certified tea lover. Truth is, I used to ignore tea. I have an overly sensitive tummy and when I was younger, my  lola  (grandma) often told me that drinking tea would do my tummy some good, but I didn't take her advice. I started loving it when I moved to Canada. Since it's freezing cold there, especially during winter, a hot drink in your hand is a staple. I don't drink coffee and I can't have hot chocolate all the time (because, as I've said, my tummy's ultra sensitive and having hot choco all day will set it off like a ticking bomb), so my last option is to have tea... and that's how I fell in love with it. It's true, love can be learned.  Hihi .  I love it so much now that I would visit the Vintage Tea Room on  Locke St. in Hamilton  with my friend Ayeza and pay for tea reading afterwards!  "Tea Freak" image source: downthatlittlelane.com.au my friend Ayeza and I share the ...
