Graduation Oath

With my sister Thea who just graduated! Photo from my IG account: @thessaes Seeing  my sister graduate this week and  many other  graduates  post photos of their convocation on social media have made me look back at my own in 2010 and think about how far I am in my journey after marching out of ULS (Uganayang La Salle) as a bright-eyed new grad. (Lola vibes, I know.) At the beginning of this week, I sat in my sister's graduation and listened intently, nodding my head in agreement, to the opening remarks given by their College President and one of the school's successful alumni about how life would be like after you're done being a student. Graduating from Sheridan College in 2012 Speaking of lola ... posing with my lola  when I graduated from university in 2010 I remember as a student, I always dreamed of giving a graduation speech. I was an overachieving student who hoped of getting the experience of reading a speech in front of my batch...

Today, I wrote a boy a 'love' letter

Someone asked me about my plans for Valentine's Day a few days ago. And since I've been battling a flu since the beginning of the week, my response was quick. "Oh God, I am too sick to even think about it. Valentine's Day is the least of my concerns," I said, even though it wasn't entirely true.  I knew, even before the week started, that it was going to be a challenging one. But I didn't expect that it would be ultra challenging and I'd get hit by the flu and suffer from it all week long.   So here I am, at home; still recovering and surprisingly happy that, for the first time in a long time, I have no work to do. And while I have been busy doing nothing (but sleep most of the time to help my body completely recover from illness and prepare myself for next week), someone crossed my mind all of a sudden. His name is Leonidas. I have a photo of him in my wallet. I first met Leonidas in December, just before Christmas. His smile made me notice him....

What's your positive change story?

Photo by Live Life Happy If you've been reading my blog, around Thanksgiving (Canadian), I wrote about how thankful I am about the change I've seen in my dad. Yes, he's changed for the better.  He used to worry a lot, which in turn, attracted a lot of negativity. Please don't think that I'm saying that my dad is not a nice person. He has many good qualities, but all of us have flaws that tend to sometimes overshadow the goodness in us.  After lending him and reading a self-help book written by a Christian author, which was given to me as a gift on my birthday, we have seen his sincere effort to change and become a more positive person. He smiles a lot now (which makes him look 20 years younger, we told him!), and is more open to conversing with other people and does not think that spending time with others to catch up / chat is a waste of time. He socializes more, in short. We used to argue a lot as well (because I'm a Virgo and I like pointing out thin...

Holidays 2014

To avoid bombarding my Facebook and Instagram with our holiday photos, I decided to post these on my blog instead. I'm very thankful to have been given the opportunity to take some time off from work and come home and celebrate this wonderful season with my family. As this is a very busy time of the year for everyone, I'd like to make this post short and sweet.  2014 was a great year for me and my family and I believe that 2015 will even be better. I wish everyone the best in life, love, and career in 2015! May God bless you and your families in the years to come! :) Enjoy! New Year's Eve photo with the Ilagans... and the Rollans. :)
